Make the blocks:
This quilt is made using (2) different blocks – 4-patch and half-square-triangle blocks - in (8) different combinations of two colors each. Three combinations for the 4-patch blocks and five combinations for the half-square-triangle blocks.
4-PATCH:
Follow the graphic above and make (4) identical blocks of each pair of colors using the 3 1/2in squares. No trimming is needed, press the seams open. Each block measures 6 1/2in unfinished.
| C1 + C2 | | C1 + C3 | | C1 + C6 |
HALF-SQUARE-TRIANGLES
Following the graphic above, lay the pairs of each color with right sides together – don’t forget to mark a diagonal line on the back of all C1 and C5 fabrics – and sew using 1/4in seam allowance on each side of the line to make 2-at-time half-square-triangles.
Cut on the creased line and press seams open.
Trim blocks to 6 1/2in square. To trim, align the diagonal on a 6 1/2in square ruler or larger, to the diagonal on the block. Trim top and right, rotate the block, trim left and bottom. Repeat this process for all (36) half-square-triangle blocks.
Following the graphic above, piece all (8) rows. Attention to the rotation of the blocks to the right direction as shown.
Press the quilt top before basting.
Baste and quilt using your preferred method.
Congratulations!!!! What a beautiful project you’ve completed!!!
