RM-SG 18”x24” Green Double-Sided, Self-healing Rotary Mat
OLFA 45mm Quick-Change Rotary Cutter | RTY-2/C
OLFA 6" x 24" Frosted Acrylic Ruler | QR-6x24
QR-1x12 1" x 12" Frosted Acrylic Ruler

Cutting instructions:
C1: cut (1) 17” x 11.5” and (2) 4.5” x 8.5”
C2: cut (1) 5” x 11.5”; (1) 2.5” x 11.5”; (1) 2.5” x 6” and (1) 7” x 11.5”
C3: cut (1) 17” x 11.5”; (1) 5” x 11.5”; (1) 2.5” x 11.5”; (1) 2.5” x 6” and (1) 7” x 11.5”
C4: cut (2) 2.5” x WOF and join on the 45-degree angle, fold and press lengthwise with right side out for binding the main body. Also, cut (1) 2” x WOF, fold and press lengthwise with right side out for binding the pocket pieces.
Prepare the parts:
Except for the main body, match all sets of main fabric + stabilizer + lining (pockets and flap) and quilt or simply sew around all edges using 1/8” seam allowance to hold the parts together.
For the main body sew together only the stabilizer and lining fabric (17” x 11.5” pieces).

Use the 2” wide binding strip to bind the pen pocket top first (attention to fabric direction on all pieces if applicable), then sew the pen pocket to the base of the left pocket top part and bind them together. Also bind the other pocket pieces. To bind the flap use the 2.5” wide binding.
See photo below, both left pocket + left pocket top needs the binding to face each other. The binding of the right pocket faces the left pocket pieces.

Sew the inner part of the case:
Place the left pocket larger piece on the left edge of the main body lining side, and the right pocket on the right, clip and sew it in place using 1/8” seam allowance.
Crease the center of the base.

Align the left pocket top part 1/4” before the crease as shown below. Sew on top of the seam previously done to hold the fabrics together.

From the 2.5” binding strip, cut (1) 11.5” long piece.
Open and fold the long edges towards the crease. Close and press to have a 1/2" strip.

Place the strip to cover the raw edge of the left pocket top part. Sew on both sides of the strip 1/8” far from the edges.

Now all inner parts are sewn in place.

Sew the outer part:
Sew the main fabric on all edges using 1/8” seam allowance.
On the right side of the case when it’s open and inner pockets are facing up, sew the flap on the back of the pocket, on the outer side. If applicable, the outer/main flap fabric should be touching the outer body main fabric (in this tutorial both sides of the flap are of c1 fabric).

Now the entire body is ready to have the binding sewn to finish. Sew the binding using your favorite method.

Lastly, install the snap buttons. Install first the flap buttons on each corner. Then press the flap buttons as closing the case on the positioning you prefer. The mark of the buttons should be visible from pressing against the fabric, that is where the hole for the matching button will be made.
Poke the hole only on the body by pulling the inner pocket away from the body. Insert the flat part of the button through the inside of the pocket and press the snap holding all layers together instead of inserting the pressing tool inside the pocket to make the process easier.

On the pockets side no buttons should be visible.

All done!!
