Tools needed:

OLFA RM-SG-01 18" x 24" Green Double-Sided, Self-Healing Rotary Mat

OLFA RTY-2C\PIK 45mm Pink Rotary Cutter Trimmer

OLFA QR-6x24 6”x24” Frosted Acrylic Ruler

OLFA QR-6S 6 1/2" Square Frosted Acrylic Ruler

 

Cutting instructions:

Color A = Cut (2) strips 3 1/2” x WOF; sub cut (9) 3 1/2” squares;

Color B = Cut (3) strips 3 1/2” x WOF; from (2) strips sub cut (6) 3 1/2” x 6 1/2” rectangles; and from (1) strip sub cut (6) 3 1/2” squares;

Color C = Cut (2) strips 5” x WOF; sub cut (8) 5” squares;

Color D = Cut (2) strips 5” x WOF; sub cut (8) 5” squares;

Binding: Cut (7) strips 2 1/4” x WOF, sew all strips together on a 45-degree angle, fold lengthwise with the right side out and press to make the binding strip.

Assembling the blocks:

This quilt is made using two (2) different blocks (1 and 2) and it’s set on point.

1.       Each Block 1 (3 blocks total) will use three 3 ½” squares of color A; two, 3 ½” x 6 ½” rectangles of color B; and two, 3 ½” squares of color B.

2.       Each Block 2 (4 blocks total) will use two 5” squares of color C and two 5” squares of color D.

3.       Sew the block rows as shown on the photo below.

 

4.       Sew the units together to make rows, then sew the rows together to make the block, as shown below, and pressing seams open.

Assembling the runner:

1. Each row is pieced diagonally as shown below.

2. Sew the blocks together to make each row, pressing seams open.

3. Sew the rows together to make the patchwork top, and pressing seams open.

4. Baste, quilt and bind using your preferred method.
