Stash-Busting Fabric Rug with Scrap Batting

Description: Put your fabric stash and scrap batting to good use in a one of a kind custom rug.
Materials:
- 3 yards Quilting Cotton
- 1 1/4 yards 90” Quilt Batting
- All purpose Poly thread
Tools:

EDIT: The RM-HG 6x18 Rotary mat is for use with rotary cutters only. The CM 9x12 is our 2mm mat that is intended for rotary and fixed blade knives.

(3:33) Cutting Fabric Strips
- (40+) 2.5”x WOF strips quilting cotton
(5:05) Joining Fabric Strips
- Bias join strips together
(7:41) Cutting Batting Strips
- (18) 2”x WOF quilt batting
(9:09) Making Fabric Tube
- Layer batting strip on top of wrong side of fabric
- Fold each long edge into the middle and then fold in half
- Stitch in place
(12:02) Starting Rug
- Remove 2” of batting from starting end of tube
- Start creating a circle and baste in place
- Add another layer of fabric tubing to create a larger circle and baste in place
(16:50) Sew the rug
- Using a middle zigzag of great there than 5mm continue to add more rounds to your circle
- After a few rounds go back and zig zag the centre then continue adding to the rug until you are a few inches from the end
(18:45) Dealing with waves or bowing
- Take apart to a few rounds before the issues started and try again
- Focus on keeping things nice and flat as the rug goes under the needle
(20:10) Finishing the rug
- ZigZag the end of the fabric tube to seal the edge
- Fold the end on a bias and tuck under the rug and finish off the zigzag
