The holidays are coming quickly, and there is something so special about surprising a loved one with a handmade gift. Greeting cards feel extra meaningful this time of year, and today Im sharing a project that is perfect if you need a last-minute holiday craft 🎄 or a special card to wish a loved one a happy New Year

You only need a few tools and supplies, some paper, and a printer. In just a short time, you can make a 3D star-shaped card that your loved one will want to display as decor.
So lets learn how to make it!

Tools & Supplies Needed

         OLFA CM-9x12-01/YEL Double-Sided Self-Healing Cutting Mat

OLFA AK-5 Designer Graphic Art Knife

         OLFA R-1x12 1" x 12" Frosted Acrylic Ruler

8-1/2" X 11" metallic cardstock, suitable for printing (used: Shimmer Champagne Cardstock Paper by Recollections)

         Golden glittered paper

Twine and hole punch tool for tags

         Double-sided adhesive tape

White glue or hot glue gun

         Printer, pencil

         6 1/2 x 6 1/2” envelope

Instructions
-
Print the star templates HERE onto metallic cardstock.

- Place the printed template 1 on your OLFA cutting mat, then use the OLFA ruler and art knife to carefully cut every line of the template. Work slowly and keep the corners as clean and sharp as possible.
- Using the tapered side of your OLFA art knife, score the center of your card base with two straight lines, as shown below. Be careful not to score the top point of the star.

- Place the printed template 2 and 3 on your OLFA cutting mat, then use the OLFA ruler and art knife to carefully cut every line of the template. Cut out the tags as well (you will find a few tag options, and you can choose the one that feels right for your message!).

- With the tapered side of your OLFA art knife, make a crease at every star corner from template 2. Fold the star along those creases to form the 3D shape (fold each point gently toward the center so the star puffs up). Fold exactly as shown in the picture below:

- With a pencil, trace the star from template 3 onto gold glittered cardstock. Cut the traced star out using the OLFA art knife and ruler on the mat.

- Attach the gold star to the center of your card base using double-sided tape or glue. Press firmly so it sits flat. This will be the flat background star.
- Put a small dot of glue on each point of the creased 3D star. Carefully place the creased star on top of the gold star so the points match. Hold each point in place a few seconds so the glue sets. Tip: If you prefer hot glue, work with one dot at a time so the glue stays soft while you place the 3D star on the card.

- Thread twine through the provided tag and tie it. Attach the tag to the card, arranging the twine so it looks neat.

Your 3D star card is ready to give and to display!
