Pattern notes:

  • Please read all instructions before beginning.
  • Seam allowance is ¼” unless noted otherwise.
  • WOF = width of fabric: assume 18” x 21” for Fat Quarter (FQ).

Cutting instructions:

Color A = Cut (2) strips 3 1/2” x WOF = sub cut (9) 3 1/2” squares;

Color B = Cut (3) strips 3 1/2” x WOF = from (2) strips sub cut (6) 3 1/2” x 6 1/2” rectangles; and from (1) strip sub cut (6) 3 1/2” squares;

Color C = Cut (2) strips 5” x WOF = sub cut (8) 5” squares;

Color D = Cut (2) strips 5” x WOF = sub cut (8) 5” squares;

Binding: Cut (7) strips 2 1/4” x WOF.

 

 

Assembling the blocks:

This quilt is made using two (2) different blocks and it’s set on point.

Block 1:

  1. Each Block 1 will use three, 3 ½” color A (red) squares; two, 3 ½” x 6 ½” color B (blue) rectangles; and two, 3 ½” color B (blue) squares.
  2. Lay out the block as shown on Fig1.
  3. Sew the units together to make rows, then sew the rows together to make the block, as shown below, pressing seams open. Fig 2.
  4. Repeat to make 3 units of Blocks 1.

Block 2:

  1. Each unit of Block 2 will use two, 5” color C (green) squares; and two, 5” color D (gray) squares.
  2. Make (4) four-patch blocks.

 

 

Assembling the runner:

  1. The blocks in this quilt are assembled on point. Each row is pieced diagonally, as shown below.
  2. Sew the blocks together to make each row, pressing seams open.
  3. Sew the rows together, pressing seams open.
  4. Baste and quilt using your preferred method.
