How To Sew A Knit Tank Top

A knit tank can be a quick and easy project to bring together. With only a few pattern pieces and the right tools you can create your own tank to wear this season. To find out how follow this tutorial.
For this tutorial I used Mood Fabrics FREE SYLVAN TANK PATTERN
Tools and Materials Needed:
- OLFA 5”Stainless Steel Scissors
- OLFA 45mm RTY-2/G Straight Handle Rotary Cutter
- OLFA RM-MG/NBL 24"X36 Double-Sided, Self-Healing Rotary Mat, Navy
- 1 yard Stretch Knit fabric
- Thread
- Serger/Sewing Machine
- Pins/Clips
- Mood Pattern Sylvan tank pattern
*Use your OLFA cutting tools and Rotary Mat to cut cut out your pattern.
SEWING INSTRUCTIONS
- With right sides facing pin the shoulder and side seams of your front bodice and back bodice together.
- Stitch or Serge.
- Fold your arm bindings in half. Pin the raw edge of the short side together
4. Stitch or Serge.
5. With wrong sides facing fold the binding in half the long way matching raw edges and pin.
6. Match the arm binding to the raw edges of the arm opening with right sides and raw edges together. Match binding seam to underarm seam. Pin.
7. Stitch or serge. Complete for both arm holes.
8. Repeat steps 3 thru 5 for your neck binding.
9. Hem the bottom edge of your tank by turning and pressing under 1” and zig zag stitching. You can also serge the raw edge and use a twin stitch for you hem as an option.
*Don’t forget to press all your arm seams and neck seams down.
