Description: Using Nylon fabric to create a garden flag

 Materials:

• 1/4 yard White Nylon Fabric
• 1/8 yard Blue Nylon Fabric
• 1/8 yard Red Nylon Fabric
• Thread
• Garden Flag Stand

Tools:

• OLFA RTY-2DX/PBL Ergo Rotary Cutter
• OLFA PIB45-1 Stainless Steel Pinking Blade
• OLFA QR-4S 1/2” Square Frosted Acrylic Ruler
• OLFA QR-6x12 6”x12” Frosted Acrylic Ruler
• OLFA 7-Inch SCS-2 Serrated Edge Stainless Steal Scissors
• OLFA RM-MG-01/GRY 24”x36" Double-Sided Self-Healing Rotary Mat
• Clips/Pins
• Sewing Machine

(0:07) Materials

(0:14) Changing Blade

• Replace Ergo blade with Pinking Blade
• Make sure to move the plastic washer between the blade and the handle

(0:29) Cutting Instructions

• Cut 4.5” squares in the following amounts
  • (12) White
  • (8) Blue
  • (4) Red
• Also cut the following from white
  • (8) 3.75” Squares
  • (5) 4”x13”

(0:42) Make Half Square Triangles

• Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on 24 white squares
• Layer each blue and red square with one of these white squares
• Sew 1/2” on either side of diagonal line

(1:06) Trim Squares

• Cut each unit along diagonal line
• Trim units to 3.75” square

(1:16) Sew blocks

• Lay out units in desired pattern and stitch together

(1:31)Assemble Units

• Attach 4”x13” strip to top and bottom of each block
• Make 2 hanging tabs
• With right sides facing stitch together leaving a hole to turn
• Top stitch to finish
