How to: Blade Snapping 101

We all know that a sharp knife is a safe knife, but for those of you new to snap we’re going to show you how OLFA helps you stay sharp all day long.

OLFA blades are designed with a stamped edge to snap quick and easy for a new sharp cutting edge every time. There are two recommended ways to snap an OLFA blade.

With an OLFA Blade Disposal Can

Using an OLFA Blade Disposal Container makes snapping and trapping the blade easy and safe.

To snap, simply:

1. Extend the blade edge out of the knife handle until the perforation is past the back support channel

2. Insert the blade into the slot of the blade container

3. Firmly press down the knife handle to snap the edge

4. Shake the container as needed to fully trap the blade

With Pliers

Using pliers is a safe way to snap a blade since you never touch the edge.

To snap, simply:

1. Extend the blade edge out of the knife handle until the perforation is past the back channel support

2. Grasp the blade edge with pliers

3. Firmly press down with the pliers to snap

4. Safely dispose of the blade edge in a sharps container
