I thought I would go a floral route for a February project rather than the typical hearts and chocolates!
Beside by now most of us in the Nothern Hemisphere are longing for the beginning of Spring.

 

Cutting Instructions:

From Background Fabric cut:

4 – 4 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ Square A

4 – 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ Rectangle B

10 —  3″ x 3″ Square C

2 —  1″ x 4 1/2″ Rectangle D

8 – 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ Square E

2 – 2 1/2″ x 13″ Rectangle F

2  — 2 1/2″ x 40 1/2″ Rectangle G

From Each of 5 Pink Scraps cut:

2 —  2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ Square H

2 —  3″ x 3″ Square I

 

From Yellow Scraps cut:

10 – 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ Square J

 

From Green Fabric cut:
4 –   4 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ Square K

10 – 1 1/2″ x 1  1/2″ Square L

2 – 1″ x 16 1/2″ Strip M

Putting it All Together:

Use 1/4″ seam allowance on all seams. Press out towards one side or the other as feels natural.

 

  1. Draw a line from corner to corner on the Wrong Side of the 10 Square C’s.

  1. Place one Square I against one Square C (right sides together) and sew 1/4″ away from both sides of the drawn line.

  1. Cut on the drawn line.

  1. Press the resulting Half Triangle Square Units open and trim to 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″.

  1. Repeat Steps 2-4 with the remaining Square C’s and Square I’s.

 

6.Take a Pink Square H and the Matching Half Triangle Square Units (made in Steps 1-5) along with a Yellow Square J and sew together as shown:

  1. Repeat with the remaining Pink Square H’s, Matching Half Triangle Square Units, and Yellow Square J’s.

 

  1. Draw a line on the Wrong Side of the 10 Green Square L’s.

  1. Place a Square L on the corner of a Flower Unit (right sides together) and sew ON the line as shown:

  1. Trim off the corner and Press toward the Corner as shown:

  1. Repeat with the remaining Square L’s and Flower Units.

 

  1. Draw a line on the wrong side of the 8 Square E’s.

  1. Place a Square E on the corner of a Square K (right sides together) and sew ON the line.

  1. Trim off the corner and Press toward the Corner as shown:

  1. Repeat Steps 13-14 on the opposite corner:

  1. Repeat Steps 13-15 with the remaining Square K’s and Square E’s:

 

  1. Combine the Flower Units and Leaf Units with the Square A’s, Rectangle B’s, Rectangle D’s, and Strip M’s making two Blocks as Shown:

  1. Sew these Blocks top to top as shown:

  1. Sew the Rectangle G’s to the sides of this unit, press, then Sew the Rectangle F’s to the ends of the runner.

  1. Quilt and bind as you desire.
