Welcome to the fourth of six (6) Slice & Stitch Challenges that we’ve teamed up with Aurifil to bring you! One OLFA Ambassador and one Aurifil Artisan will receive the same products and create a project or tips / tutorial for you! This month Audrey Mann & Diane Brinton with The Cloth Parcel and Amista Baker were both given the OLFA Frosted Advantage Rulers and Aurifil’s Cotton 28 weight.

Hey there! It’s Diane and Audrey from the Cloth Parcel. We were so excited to get this chance to play with products from two of our favorite companies, OLFA and Aurifil.
This month, we have been using OLFA rulers and Aurifil’s 28 weight thread. Honestly, we’ve been using OLFA rulers nearly daily for years. The frosted surface is easy to see through and reduces slipping. Our go-to sizes for all of our regular quilt cutting are the 6″x12″ and 6″x24″ rulers, but for this project we tried out the 12″ and 16″ square rulers for the first time.
For this challenge, we made a 20″ pillow cover made up of four log cabin blocks, using our quilt block tutorial. The 16″ square ruler is great for keeping everything accurate. If you like to make big blocks like us, this ruler is the one for you.
Once the pillow cover was trimmed and ready to quilt, we used 28 weight Aurifil thread in matching colors to machine quilt in straight lines. The 28 weight thread is just a little bit thicker and gives a lovely bit of added texture to the quilting.
We’re excited to have the opportunity for one of you to get the chance to play along with us. Head to our blog post for the Summer Cabin Pillow Tutorial and a ruler giveaway!
