If you are planning a bridal shower, consider this great theme: shower by the hour. Each guest is assigned a time of day (8am, 1pm, etc), and then asked to bring a gift that the new bride might use in her home at that time of day.
Suggestions: Gifts could be lined up as the guests arrive in order of time of day - and opened in that order (consider making 2 sets of clocks for this method - with one clock going on the gift table to help guest find their 'slot' on the table).
